Concho Valley PAWS has partnered with Hospice of San Angelo, Gentiva Hospice and the ICD Family Shelter to provide support and foster home programs for pets of families in crisis. This program allows Hospice patients to keep their pets in their homes longer through the supportive care of volunteers and will provide the patients with the peace of mind knowing that when the time comes, their pets will go into the foster and adoption program instead of an animal shelter. This program also provides for foster care for pets of women who are fleeing domestic abuse. So often, women will stay in an abusive situation because they fear for the safety of their pets. This program allows for the temporary care of these pets while the women focus on securing their family.
