2ndchanceThe Concho Valley PAWS Second Chance Rescue Program assists pet owners in rehoming a pet they are no longer able to keep as part of their family. There are many reasons owners feel unable to continue to provide a home. The most common reasons are: relocation, new additions to the family, financial costs of proper pet care, behavioral issues, and incompatibility with other pets.

We urge the public to contact us first before surrendering their pet to the shelter.  The City of San Angelo Animal Shelter operates at capacity most of the time, and even though we are striving to make San Angelo a No-Kill Community, there are no guarantees that your pet will be adopted if surrendered to the shelter.

The Second Chance Program allows us to assist the public in their efforts to rehome their pet without overburdening our volunteer foster homes. The program is simple and effective, but requires your commitment to continue to shelter, feed and care for the pet while we look for an appropriate home. In a way, you are agreeing to foster you own pet.

We care about your pet and want to help you place your pet in a home where it will be loved. We want your pet to go to a home where its new guardians will be committed to making the pet a new member of their family.

  • This agreement is between Concho Valley PAWS and the guardian of the following animal, hereafter "guardian" and "pet". This agreement is only in effect after all parties have signed indicating that an authorized Concho Valley PAWS representative approved the pet for enrollment in this program. All sections must be filled out in order to be considered as a Second Chance participant.

      You must upload the veterinary records (vaccinations, proof of spay or neuter) for the pet you are wishing to enroll in our Second Chance program. PDF files are preferred.

    • PETS ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IF THEY ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED AND FULLY VACCINATED. PETS MUST BE TEMPERAMENT TESTED BY PAWS STAFF. PAWS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM BASED ON INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS FORM AND ANY INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM VETERINARIANS AND GUARDIAN INTERVIEWS.
