The Concho Valley PAWS Second Chance Rescue Program assists pet owners in rehoming a pet they are no longer able to keep as part of their family. There are many reasons owners feel unable to continue to provide a home. The most common reasons are: relocation, new additions to the family, financial costs of proper pet care, behavioral issues, and incompatibility with other pets.
We urge the public to contact us first before surrendering their pet to the shelter. The City of San Angelo Animal Shelter operates at capacity most of the time, and even though we are striving to make San Angelo a No-Kill Community, there are no guarantees that your pet will be adopted if surrendered to the shelter.
The Second Chance Program allows us to assist the public in their efforts to rehome their pet without overburdening our volunteer foster homes. The program is simple and effective, but requires your commitment to continue to shelter, feed and care for the pet while we look for an appropriate home. In a way, you are agreeing to foster you own pet.
We care about your pet and want to help you place your pet in a home where it will be loved. We want your pet to go to a home where its new guardians will be committed to making the pet a new member of their family.
