Concho Valley PAWS works with the San Angelo Animal Shelter to facilitate a shelter pet adoption program placing over 2,000 shelter pets in loving homes each year. We provide medical care for all shelter pets including emergency treatment services for animals that enter the shelter ill or injured. We also spay and neuter all pets prior to adoption. We provide for more than 3,000 low-cost spay and neuter procedures to owned pets to humanely and ethically reduce the local pet population so that more animals do not end up in the shelter. We offer emergency veterinary assistance to families in crisis situations such as a pet hit by a car, attacked by other animals or abused by humans. We provide life-saving and life enhancing programs for local shelter pets including outdoor playgroups, socialization, dogs walks and other volunteer programs. Last year, our life saving programs resulted in a shelter live release exceeding 85%. This means that more than 85% of shelter animals left the shelter via local adoptions, out of state adoptions and progressive return to owner programs.
